Glow Getter Report – Neve Isaacs

“I can’t believe it’s week 5 of my Glow Getter Journey. I’ve been struggling for many years to workout (mostly because I didn’t always know what to do) and also what to eat. This year has been very stressful, I didn’t really care about what I was eating anymore because my studies was just so hectic. I picked up a lot of weight in my 1st year, I would literally order fast foods three times a week. I felt so unhealthy and extremely tired.

This is why I am so grateful to be part of the glow getter team for 2020. I lost about 3kgs in 4 weeks time. It might not sound or look a lot but, for me it’s a big difference. I found out recently that I have really bad anxiety and that’s also one of the reasons why I decided to be part of this challenge. I told myself that I want to feel better mentally and physically. It’s still tough sometimes and there’s many days I want to give up but I’m still going strong!

I’m using all the RushTush Pharmaceuticals as well as the RushTushFit App. I’m going, to be honest, I am struggling a bit with the workouts because of the pains in my body due to my anxiety but I do believe it will get better. I try to do some of the exercises and then I would go for a lovely jog during the day depending on how my body feels. I went to so many doctors and I had to do a lot of scans the last few months, after getting back all the results they said there’s nothing wrong it’s probs all the stress of the year and that I should just continue working out and just eat healthily. I do feel so much better mentally and physically and I would definitely recommend all the Rushtush pharmaceuticals and the RushtushFitApp, there are so many options to choose from. I started with the Beginner workout plan. I am not so tired anymore and the best part is that I don’t crave sugar so much anymore. I use to snack every night because of stress but because I have the Glow Cleanse eating plan, it has taught me to make better food choices and also to listen to my body. My goal is to lose some tummy fat and just be healthy. For the first time ever I don’t feel sluggish or bloated!

I am on the Glow Cleanse by Rushtush, it’s a detox guide designed for women. My favourite recipe is the hulk juice, it’s so tasty and refreshing!

“I am a massive advocate of raw foods rich in nutrients as opposed to empty caloric foods. I approve of food from the ground – the way God intended it, how it should be enjoyed” – Rushtush

Rushda always inspires me with her posts and she has changed so many women’s lives with her amazing e-books, pharmaceuticals, and her fit app.

You can follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, I will be posting a lot about my glow getter journey. I am super excited for the FUTURE!”

How I really feel about fitness

For many years fitness was seen as exclusive. Yoga studios, boxing gyms, and personal trainers all catered to a certain type of person and a very specific demographic. This kind of training seemed targeted at women who were already fit, fabulous, and wealthy and was therefore unsurprisingly perceived as a luxury. Exercise as leisure and self-care was rare in many communities in South Africa, especially among people of colour.

But I’m of the mindset that health and fitness is not a luxury. It’s an essential part of life and if someone is keen to embrace that lifestyle I want them to have access to it regardless of where they live or how they look. This belief is the very foundation of my business model and it has allowed me to extend my reach far beyond what I ever imagined when I first started out in a small rented space with a few pieces of equipment.

Many of you know that I used to teach group classes in my women’s gym. While I loved this in-person contact with my clients, it just wasn’t sustainable and I knew that there were women in other parts of South Africa (and abroad!) who wanted in on my style of training. This is where the idea of the RushTushFit app was born. I created the app so that ladies all over the world can experience the quality of training I deliver at an affordable price. For just R250 per month for the year you can tailor a workout programme to suit your level of fitness and goals, whether you’re a total newbie to exercise or a seasoned gym-goer. There’s even a program for pregnant mamas. Each move is demonstrated and explained in a video – it’s as if I’m standing right by your side training you one-on-one. And the best part is that you can train wherever you like, whenever you like.

My goal for the RushTushFit app, as well as my eBooks and pharmaceuticals, is to grow and nurture a community of healthy happy ladies because I truly believe that the way we perform in our bodies and the way we perceive how we look plays a vital role in our outlook in life. The RushTush way of life is not just for you. It’s also for your aunty, your mom, the girl who lives next door, that colleague you take coffee breaks with, your best friend. A love for fitness should be shared and encouraged and celebrated among women from all walks of life. What better way to unite than over a passion for healthy living? In the spirit of accessibility, my team has been working on making the app available to Android users too and I’m happy to announce that we’re just a few days off from launch. In the meantime, you can subscribe to my YouTube channel where I post weekly workouts to challenge and inspire you to reach your fitness goals. You should also keep a close eye on my social media because the first heat of the Glow Getter campaign is about to start and there will be tons of relatable, informative content shared by my team of Glow Getters over the next few months.

How do you know if you should start taking protein powder?

Girl talk is so vast! As women we can chat about everything; like baking, make-up, our careers, or training programs…and today we chat about protein powders! Yes, that tub that could be in a man’s supplement cupboard and is often overlooked by women, is something you should consider using too. But, before we get down to the nitty gritty of why you should consider shopping my range of pharmaceuticals in order to get your hands on some protein powder, let’s first explore the reasons why protein is so essential for your body.

What is the role of protein?
Protein is made up of building blocks called amino acids and the protein that is already made by our bodies need a constant supply of amino acids to repair itself. Protein is essential for repairing tissue and also provides support for hair (ie. keratin). It is the building block in skin, bones, muscles, cartilage and blood. It is also the coordinator of body functions, so you need it for your body to perform at its peak.

Your diet, like your kettlebell swings, should be on point!
The first step is to try to attain as much of your body’s required protein via your eating plan. Protein supplements should NEVER EVER REPLACE real food. That is why you will never hear me promoting meal replacement shakes. I will always believe in consuming simple food, straight from the source. So, before you start scooping up protein powder and shaking your blender bottle, make sure your diet is filled with things like chicken breast fillets, lean beef, tinned tuna, fish and egg whites by the tea cup measure. Lentils, chickpeas, spirulina powder, quinoa, oats, chia seeds, nut butters and broccoli are some great sources of protein for the Vegan Glow Girls.

My RushTush eating plans are a great place to start if you are looking for help to create a balanced eating plan. You can shop my guides here: https://rushtush.com/e-books/

Why you might need to supplement with protein powder

  • You may not be getting enough protein

While your diet is the key to sufficient protein in the body, most researchers agree that many women are not getting enough protein from their diets and that is where the need for a protein supplement comes in.
To calculate how much protein you need, you will need to google or calculate your weight in pounds, and that is the amount of protein you will need in grams. For example, if I weigh 55kg that is equal to 121, 25 pounds. So, essentially I should then need to be eating around 120 grams of protein. It is as simple as that.
Your carb and fat intake increases and decreases depending on your goals (for example: If you want to lose weight, gain weight, build muscle or become stronger), so how can you get your required protein without blowing your carb and fat intake budget? Yes, you need to whip out a protein shake! Now, if you are wanting to get slimmer, it could also become challenging to get enough protein due to the fact that most people follow a calorie deficit while trying to lose weight. And, when consuming pure protein you need to make sure that you monitor the fat and carbs that accompany it. You can achieve this with a pure whey.

  • Protein helps build muscle without weight gain

If you are trying to build lean muscle and not pick up weight at the same time, you can benefit from protein powder to support the muscle growth while not increasing your calories (as this can lead to more weight being gained, and you may not want that if you are looking to lose some kilograms).

  • Protein powder saves you time

You may not have time to cook, especially right after the gym. Therefore, a protein powder can give you the boost you need after a gym session, and allows the protein to go straight to work in repairing your muscles. It’s the perfect tummy-filler for me while I’m preparing dinner. It also prevents me from overeating at dinner, when I’m cutting.

  • Protein helps you shape a sexy silhouette

If you are on the RushTushFit App or any of my training guides, Tush Sculpt and Newbie Body, you may need to add protein to your training. The reason for this is that protein is essential to building lean muscle- hello booty! You will burn fat and feed muscle when incorporating whey protein powder into your daily routine. The goal is to tighten skin and reveal that hard earned muscle and shape.

  • If you are not seeing the results of your hard work

If your muscle tone is not improving while you are lifting consistently, then consider taking a protein supplement.
So, you don’t NEED protein powder-you can get protein from natural food sources. The only problem is; you and I know that things are never “simple”. In our daily lives we are often on- the-go and sometimes we don’t make the healthiest choices where it comes to our nutrition. So how can we be sure we are fueling our bodies with enough protein? The answer is infact simple, and can be found in a bag of RushTush Premium Whey protein powder.

  • How do you take your RushTush Whey?

I would take a maximum of two scoops per day. 1 scoop with 150ml cold water, shake and enjoy! If i’m on the go, I would take the scoop of powder in a shaker and add the water on site. I’ll take the second scoop later on in the day. If I’m only having one whey shake p/day I would take the 2 scoops in one go with 250ml water. Avoid adding extra carbs (fruits and nut butters) and making over-indulgent smoothies as your pre or post workout shake, especially if you are trying to get leaner. Take your whey after your run or weight lifting session and remember there is no time limit cut off. Protein powder is meant to be convenient so be flexible and make your protein powder work for you.

RushTush Whey Protein is a premium protein, manufactured locally and designed for women. It is pure and free of any bulking agents- so there’s no nasties in your bag of RushTush Whey. We’ve also gone above and beyond by adding collagen to the mix, as well as L-Glutamine for recovery after your weight training sweat sesh! It  also contains D-Ribose which helps the body to mobilize fat and it is virtually free of sugars, fat and carbs which makes it a great option for those looking to shed weight.

My protein powder is for every female gym goer and those following a RushTush nutrition guide or any other eating plan. It is also for women who are not getting enough protein and thus need to supplement with a powder. Strawberry Chamomile Mocktail

Fruity and refreshing, this strawberry chamomile mocktail is spring in a glass! We love getting creative with RushTush products and thought that a light ice tea drink would be the perfect way to enjoy our new range of teas on warmer days. With extracts of chamomile, lavender, and vanilla, this tea pairs perfectly with the zestiness of grapefruit juice and the sweetness of honey.

INGREDIENTS:

CHAMOMILE HONEY SYRUP

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1-2 RushTush Calming Tea tea bags (purchase yours here)

FOR THE DRINKS

  • 1/3 cup  fresh grapefruit juice (about half of 1 grapefruit)
  • 2-4 tablespoons chamomile honey syrup
  • 4 fresh strawberries sliced
  • sparkling water
  • crushed ice

METHOD:

CHAMOMILE HONEY SYRUP

In a small saucepan, combine the water and honey. Bring to a low boil and then allow to simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add one or two RushTush Calming Tea tea bags (depending on how strong you want it). Steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the teabag/s and allow syrup to cool.

FOR THE DRINKS

Add grapefruit juice, chamomile syrup, and strawberries to a glass. Use a muddler or spoon to slightly mash the strawberries.  Add a handful of ice and top off with sparkling water. Give the drink a gentle stir. Garnish with fresh chamomile flowers and more strawberries.

Whey Protein Waffles

whey protein waffle recipe-rushtush

Waffles are such a treat, but they’re also a great way of getting some extra protein into your diet – simply add a scoop of your RushTush Whey Protein powder to the batter!  I love them for breakfast but you can pretty much eat them any time of day (or night!).

Registered dietician @raeesa_eats shared her protein waffle recipe with us. It’s easy to make and includes a serving of RushTush Original Whey to give you that muscle-building boost.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup flour
1 serving RushTush Original Whey Protein Powder
1/2tbl baking powder
Pinch of salt
Dash of cinnamon
1 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 tsp vanilla

METHOD:
Blend everything together and pour the batter into a heated waffle pan until golden. Top with healthy toppings of your choice. We love ours with berries, almonds, and honey.

Recipe makes 4 waffles.

More recipes like this can be found in any of my eBooks, available for immediate download on my website. You can shop RushTush Whey in Original/Chocolate for R320 (350g) on the @rushtushlife app! We deliver nationwide.
